Composite Structural Insulated Panels (CSIPs) are a newly developed building material that integrates the structural component and insulation component in a single structural panel. CSIPs are structural panels that consist of a structural skin and core that provide insulation. The structural skin is made of a material such as steel, aluminum, or other types of building materials. The core is a lightweight insulating building material that is less hard and denser than the outer skins. These panels have excellent insulation and structural properties while minimizing the weight.
Once CSIPs are being used in construction, the building process is made simpler. The building of constructed panel buildings is very tedious due to the separation of construction and insulation, leading to very high labor cost s and construction time. The use of CSIPs leads to a significant cost reduction and simplification of construction.
Due to the eco-friendly construction materials and the energy savings associated with CSIPs, the energy costs associated with construction are reduced and as the energy savings and insulation properties of CSIPs are constructed, the sustainable criteria associated with green building, along with used building retrofits, are obviated.
